FUMC said farewells and blessings to Pastor Harris Worcester and family on Father's Day. This coming Sunday, June 23rd, we say hello to Pastor Gary Watson and family. The Central Texas Conference has also changed the pairings of this charge. Our new sister church will be Tehuacana UMC. Our former sister church Kirvin UMC will be paired with Coolidge UMC. Blessings upon our new pastor and new pairings. Stay tuned to future blogs by our new pastor.

Here We Go!

The temperature still reminds us that summer is in full swing, but for many families summer will end with the beginning of school on Monday morning. Kids will excitedly begin a new year of adventures and learning while parents lament how quickly time is passing and the children are growing.

With the FUMC family home from trips, visits and vacations it is time for us to get ready for another active year. There is plenty of work to do for God's kingdom. As we step out in faith and reach out to our community and our neighbors with our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service and our witness we know that we do not work alone but always with our Savior before us, beside us and behind us.

Mark your calendars, raise your hands, and open your hearts and minds in preparation for the wonderful things our God has in store.

The Food Pantry is still extremely low on supplies. Tammy Fuentes has expressed concern about the food pantry’s ability to make it to the food drives that begin in November. Any and all monetary and food donations will be appreciated.

Community Benevolence Fund has collected around $400.00 at the 5th Sunday Service. Due to increased demand donations are greatly needed to help make it to the next 5th Sunday.

Christian Clothes Closet is preparing for a sale in the fellowship hall. Volunteers are still needed to help organize items for the sale. See Katy for more details.

Volunteers are needed ASAP for: Acolyte scheduling, Sunday School, Nursery, Pre-Worship, Running and programming the projector, Cub Scouts

New Pastor Announced

Wortham First and Kirvin United Methodist Churches are preparing to welcome their new pastor. The Rev. Harris Worcester will arrive in mid-June with June 19th being his first Sunday leading worship here in Wortham.
While Rev. Worcester was born in Gainesville, Florida, he is a graduate of Fort Worth Country Day School. After that he attending Princeton University for both a Bachelors and a Masters in the Romance Languages with a focus in Spanish. In 2004 he earned his Master of Divinity from Brite Divinity School.
Prior to becoming a pastor Rev. Worcester has worked in Austin in the Governors Office, served as a County Judge, taught Spanish at the College level, and owned his own business with his wife, Julie Worcester.
Most recently Rev. Worcester has come from Cross Plains United Methodist Church where he served as pastor. Prior to that he served as pastor at several other churches.
Rev. Worcester enjoys playing guitar and singing with his wife. Two of their children are college students and the third will be attending Wortham High School.

This is an exciting time for the church. While wwe will grieve the loss of our pastor of the past three years, we will be in great hands as we continue to grow into the future as God leads.
